Sasha Harrington: Redefining Movement and Ensemble Theatre

Sasha Harrington is a distinguished movement director and choreographer, celebrated for her expertise in large ensemble movement and her commitment to community-focused theatre. Her practice seamlessly integrates culture, nature, and personal experiences, resulting in dynamic and inclusive performances.

Educational Background

Sasha's formal training includes a Bachelor of Arts in European Theatre Arts from Rose Bruford College, where she developed a strong foundation in movement-based theatre. She further honed her skills by completing a Master of Arts in Movement: Directing and Teaching at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating in 2022.

Professional Experience

As a co-founder of Compass Collective, a theatre company and charity established in 2018, Sasha has been instrumental in creating and directing performances with young people seeking sanctuary in the UK. Her work with Compass Collective has led to productions at prestigious venues such as Shakespeare’s Globe, The Southwark Playhouse, and The Arcola Theatre, as well as participation in festivals including Migration Matters Festival and Tate Lates.

Sasha's recent projects include serving as the associate movement director for Raw Material's The Stamping Ground and contributing as the movement director for Dogstar Theatre's upcoming stage adaptation of The Testament of Gideon Mack, set to tour Scotland in early 2025.

Teaching and Mentorship

In addition to her creative endeavors, Sasha is dedicated to education and mentorship. She currently teaches at Edinburgh Napier University on the Acting for Stage and Screen course, where she imparts her extensive knowledge of movement and ensemble work to the next generation of performers.
