Clasrùm – Intensive Acting Courses

We're proud to introduce Clasrùm, an innovative series of intensive acting courses created by esteemed theatre director Graham McLaren. Designed to provide robust and flexible training, Clasrùm offers two distinct, month-long courses tailored to actors at different stages of their journey.​

About Graham McLaren

Graham McLaren founded Theatre Babel in 1994 and spearheaded the revitalisation of Perth Theatre from 2004 to 2008. His distinguished international career includes roles as Associate at Necessary Angel in Canada (2008–2011), Associate Director at the National Theatre of Scotland (2011–2016), and Artistic Director and CEO of Ireland’s National Theatre (2016–2021). Graham has directed over 70 productions across four continents, demonstrating his extensive impact on global theatre. In 2024, he became the founding Executive Director of Creative Glasgow, and in 2025, he returns to the stage, collaborating with Scott Silven on The Lost Things, premiering at the Sydney Opera House.

Clasrùm 1: Foundations of Acting

Clasrùm 1 is a four-week intensive course designed for individuals with little or no formal acting experience. Participants will progressively enhance their skills through a structured curriculum covering voice, movement, and character development. Using a variety of contemporary and classical texts, students will learn foundational techniques in acting with text.​

Course Schedule:

Duration: 5 days a week for 4 weeks (160 hours)​

Dates: June 30th – July 25th, 2025​

Location: The Tron Theatre, Glasgow​

Clasrùm 2: Advanced Acting Techniques

Clasrùm 2 is a four-week intensive course tailored for individuals with prior acting experience. The course emphasizes the development of actors' movement and acting abilities through advanced exploration of contemporary methodologies in character development, text analysis, and rehearsal techniques. Participants will work with challenging contemporary and classical scenes from significant playwrights, enhancing their skills in acting with text.​

Course Schedule:

  • 10:15 am – 11:15 am: Physicality with Vicki Manderson

  • 11:15 am – 12:15 pm: Audition Techniques with Laura Donnelly

  • 12:15 pm – 1:00 pm: Lunch​

  • 1:00 pm – 5:45 pm: Character Development, Text Analysis, and Rehearsal Techniques with Graham McLaren

Duration: 5 days a week for 4 weeks (160 hours)​

Dates: July 28th – August 23rd, 2025​

Location: The Tron Theatre, Glasgow​
