Hear from Our Stage 2 Coaches
Jake Norton
“In Stage 1, we used contextless scenes to learn technique. Now, in Stage 2, we apply those fundamentals to scenes from an actual play. The deeper analysis makes a huge difference, and I also introduce actioning, which always gives actors that ‘penny drop’ moment.”
Callan MacCormick
“Stage 2 is about taking the truth you found in Stage 1 and adding new skills to engage and include your audience. Every week, we integrate physical and vocal warmups, stagecraft exercises, and theater terminology. By the end, most people say, ‘I wish we had an audience!’ because they’re so proud of their work.”
Calum Moore
“For me, Stage 2 is where you really start connecting the dots. You’ve learned to find authenticity in the words—now it’s time to layer in voice, movement, and more complex scene work. Seeing students confidently step into a character and command the stage is fantastic.”

What to Expect from Stage 2
Scene Analysis & Text Work
Learn how to break down a more complex script, discover what drives your character, and apply actioning—an advanced technique that brings depth and nuance to each line.
Stagecraft & Movement
Go beyond the basics as you experiment with stage blocking, positioning, and theatrical terms. Gain an insider’s view of how professional actors move and interact in a theater setting.
Confidence & Cohesion
Work closely with a scene partner or small ensemble. By collaborating on a single play, you’ll see firsthand how teamwork elevates everyone’s performance.
No Audience Pressure
While you’ll rehearse with a goal of a one-off class showing, there’s no requirement to perform in front of a public audience at this stage. You can even opt for a rehearsed reading if memorizing lines feels daunting.
Jake: “I’ve seen people go from slightly nervous beginners to actors who can confidently apply technique and immediately see real, tangible results.”
“If Stage 1 was ‘scratching an itch,’ Stage 2 is about indulging even more!”

“A wonderful experience at ACS with Calum Moore’s Stage 1 and Stage 2 Acting classes! He creates a magical environment where strangers become a supportive community.
