What Would Johnny Drama Do?

For those of you that aren’t in the know, Johnny “Drama” Chase is a character in the hugely successful HBO TV seriesEntourage. Played by Kevin Dillon, the younger brother of actor Matt Dillon, he plays a strictly “C” list actor who rides the coat tails of his more successful “A” list brother, Vincent Chase a.k.a Aqua Man. Ironic eh?

Johnny Drama is a comedy character, he’s a neurotic actor that takes himself FAR TOO SERIOUSLY. But there’s some elements of Drama’s character that I find not only endearing, but also a useful model to offer to actors. So, what would Johnny Drama do?

PERSIST - Keep on chasing what you want until you get it. Johnny Drama does not give up on his desire to be a working actor, respected and admired. He doesn’t let other people or bad experiences prevent him from persisting with getting an agent and booking that job.

INSIST – Now Johnny tends to be a bit of a meat head with people, but he INSISTS that he can do it, he knows that he has the skills and he isn’t afraid to INSIST that he gets what he wants. Strongly connected to the PERSISTENCE, Johnny Drama insists that he succeeds in getting that audition and booking the job!

RESIST- Resist the urge to give up and resist the urge to give in, there are always those people out there that are horrible to you, there are nice people that will tell you to get a real job, a grown up job, to give in and go be a school teacher or some other such give-in/fall-back job. Resist Resist Resist!
