Do What Makes Your Heart Sing
We aren’t all academics, all sporty, all artsy, all musical.
We are all individual.
We don’t come into the arts, into acting, because we logically think it will make a secure future.
We do it, because it makes our hearts sing.
We have no choice. No option. It’s irrational, wonderfully irrational.
This can make it hard to explain to others. It make us different.
In school it can mark us out as weird. It can make us the target for bullies.
We want to sing in Maths class. We want to dance in Art. We want to talk and talk and talk – when we are meant to be quiet.
When we leave school, we get freedom, but we don’t know what to make of it. How do we know what our place is in the world?
It’s simple. Do what makes your heart sing.
Do what lights you up from the inside.
No matter how hard it is to make a living – livings come and go, but your heart remains.
Do what makes your heart sing, even if you only do it in your own living room.
Do what makes your heart sing – but do it with ALL of your heart and don’t let anything or anyone stop you.
My experience is that when you do that, you get to do what you love morning, noon and night – and sing yourself to sleep. Do what you love. Do what makes your heart sing.
