Take a Moment

There is a tour bus that goes through Glasgow – a company that offers tours in the major cities of the world, guided tours, sometimes only recorded voices, sometimes a live guide.

This building is very precious to me, it means a lot, I don’t know why really, I just find it endlessly beautiful.  It took a man named Mungo, a master builder 17 years to build.

It’s called ST. ANDREWS IN THE SQUARE.

The tour bus stops there for 20 seconds.

20 seconds.

17 years to build. 20 seconds for every tourist.

I see the bus daily. I counted. 20, sometimes less, once 27, but mainly 20.  Sometimes it doesn’t stop at all.

And I thought – that’s a metaphor for our lives isn’t it?  Sometimes we have so much to see and do, such an urgent need to move on, on to the next thing, the next project, the next audition, the next week, the next person, we forget to stop and appreciate the beauty of the stuff that’s around us in the every day.

So today, just once – stop. And appreciate the beauty of the every day around you. Enjoy your coffee instead of throwing it down your neck, enjoy the class you are taking, or the class you are teaching, the show you are currently in, and the people you are in it with.

Remember, the race lasts your entire life, and at the end – is nothingness. So, maybe don’t be in such a rush to get there.  Appreciate what you have.  Enjoy it.  And if you’re in Glasgow, come and appreciate this beautiful building. You won’t regret it.
