Still Waiting for Permission?

Unless they already know who you are, the phone call isn’t coming.

If you want to pour your energies into something, pour them into making sure that people know who you are.

One such activity is to get out there and do it for yourself. But people don’t. They are waiting for permission from a higher power, confirmation of ability from others.

If you wait for permission to be a successful working actor from those gatekeepers in the industry, you will probably still be waiting when I start drawing my pension.

Waiters wait and actors take action.

Stop waiting. Stop waiting for someone else to validate you. Get together with people you trust and do it for yourself. If you wait for the right time, or the right project, or the right location, venue, play, and finally the right permission to be a successful working actor – well – it might come, but it’s unlikely.

Fortune favours those people that get off their arses.

And at the same time, have some patience.
