The First 7 Steps

You can get whatever it is that you really want.

How do I know? I’ve gotten whatever I want.  I decided what it was, and I obsessed until I got there. And I’m still getting it. I have new goals and new successes.

What do you want?

  • Professional Actor?

  • Better Roles?

  • Booking More Jobs?

  • More Money

  • Better Agent?

Whatever you want, you can get it. Choose your goal, take the steps necessary. It’s that easy.

The problems?

We mythologise success – we like to believe that special people with special talents achieve special things. It isn’t true, but it makes us feel less guilty about being LAZY.

The distance we have to travel to achieve our goal is usually a lot further than most people are willing to travel.  And on that long journey, we’re going to get DISTRACTED.

FEAR of failure exists to prevent us from social harm, if we fail, others may see us as week. So, we protect ourself from failure, but end up preventing all measure of success in the same process.

No matter what the journey, you will meet fear, laziness and distraction on the way. But I’ve found that the way to insulate yourself from their effects, is to see some pretty big positive changes early on.

This is what I would do: Set a goal. Anything you like. Now write down the first seven steps you would take to achieve that goal. If you’re not sure, look to an expert, read a book, listen to an audio book, watch a video online. There’s always experts out there giving their advice. Spend some considerably time thinking about what you think the first 7 steps are. Perhaps run it past an expert if you can.

Every day, take one of those steps. Make them bold, but small and achievable. By the end of the first week, you aren’t 7 small steps closer, you are 7 BIG STEPS closer to your goal than before. And those 7 steps are GIGANTIC, they are GIANT STEPS.

Why?

Because most of us take ZERO steps towards our goals any day, let alone every day. So in the course of a week, you will boost your motivation because you will be achieving something small but complete every day.  You will still meet FEAR, DISTRACTION and LAZINESS, but you are now better protected than ever before. And if you fall off the wagon, if you fall foul of these 3 ghouls, well, start again with 7 steps.

It’s time to take the first 7 steps towards what you really want.

Take the first one today.
