DANGER: Sharks
There are so many aspirational people all looking for the secret to becoming a successful working actor. The money, fame, the glamour – it’s all motivates those of us who feel our life is missing something, and ACTING is it.
I don’t blame you, I’ve been captivated by acting since I was 4 years old.
The trouble is that aspirational people, who feel like something is missing are cash machines for the unscrupulous. And the unscrupulous look like the real deal, they talk a great game, in fact, they tell you precisely what you want to hear and wrap it up in some tough talk to make it sound like they don’t help just anyone. So when they select you for their special courses, they are confirming your ability.
I wish that were true. They are selling you a line of baloney.
But they are sharks. They will take your money, and they will make you feel like an actor for a day, a week or a month, and afterwards, you will know that you have wasted your money.
Let me be clear, I am asking you to take care with who you invest your money with. Look beyond the marketing materials, the world’s best hothouses for arts and sport have rarely been surrounded by glitz. They are a bit dirty, a bit messy, because the experts that run them do not believe in wasting money on superficiality, when training is their goal.
So if you are getting bombarded with emails, or brochures, or texts, think twice before you act upon your desires.
And when it’s over, and they have delivered their special training, and they have taken your money, and you are NOT a professional working actor as promised. Guess whose fault it will be? Guess who they will blame. YOU.
Well it can’t be them can it? It will be you. You didn’t commit, you didn’t learn, you didn’t open yourself up enough emotionally.
But the only think you will really be at fault for, is trusting these bullshitting peddling swindlers and their false dreams.
There are sharks everywhere and they want to feed on you.
