Christmas Gifts for Actors

A few years ago, we did a blog about this, but I thought I would change it up and suggest some new things:

1) Top Christmas Gift for an actor HAS to be an Apple iPad 2. You can manage your life and career from this little baby. I can’t get enough of it to be honest, copy scripts with the built in camera, carry a whole library of plays and audiobooks around with you. Take notes and keep them all together in one place. Very light, a fun device to own and lots of casting agents use them too.

2) A Moleskin Notepad: not the cheapest notepad, but something they will cherish. Great to keep notes and ideas and feedback in. Stylish and you can have them in any colour, as long as its black.

3) Dictaphone: these days decent smart phones have this capability but to be honest, plenty of people would rather have a simple phone. The dictaphone is a MUST for line learning accurately. (Making sure you say the lines accurately first!)

4) Acting books: Try Our Bookstore for something essential.

5) A decent copy of The Complete Works of Shakespeare: Goes without saying but the cheap pound shop ones are not good. Get an Arden or an RSC approved copy, hardback for the hardcore!

6) Private Acting Classes: give someone’s dreams a leg up with private classes. We’ve had people help their loved ones get into drama school with a course of 6 private sessions. People come from all over the UK and North America to train with us. We even supply a certificate!

I’m sure there’s plenty more but that should get you started.
