Anthony Boyle Enjoys Glasgow's Hospitality Amidst 'House of Guinness' Success
Anthony Boyle, acclaimed for his role as Arthur Guinness in Netflix's House of Guinness, was recently spotted at the Queen’s Park Cafe on Victoria Road in Glasgow's Southside.
Boyle's connection to Glasgow deepened during the lockdown while filming the movie Tetris in the city. It was during this time that he received the pivotal call confirming his role in Masters of the Air, a World War II series produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. Reflecting on the moment, Boyle shared, "I was filming a movie called Tetris in Glasgow during lockdown... Then they told me, 'Oh, by the way, you got the job.' I wanted to celebrate, but there was no one around me. So I just jumped up and down on the bed, tried to do a front flip."
House of Guinness, an eight-part series, delves into the history of the Guinness family, with Boyle portraying Arthur Guinness. The series also features talents like Louis Partridge, Jack Gleeson, Emily Fairn, and Fionn O’Shea. Anne Mensah, Netflix's Vice President of UK Content, praised the project, stating, "Steve Knight’s scripts read like pages torn out of a classic novel... We cannot wait to see this story come to life through Tom Shankland’s inspired vision and his breathtaking cast."
Boyle's recent visit to Glasgow underscores the city's welcoming atmosphere and its significance in his professional journey. As Glasgow continues to serve as a backdrop for major productions, it remains a vibrant hub for actors and filmmakers alike.
