INTRODUCTION TO GENERAL AMERICAN:
A huge portion of the world's film, television, and media comes out of the United States. So much so that the accent seems to be a prerequisite for the toolbox of any actor looking to take that extra step towards expanding their repertoire.
This six week course, led by Michael-Alan Read (ACS’ head of voice, and a native of the USA), running either online or in person at our studios in Glasgow, will give you the foundation you need to begin to tackle the General American Accent.
Each class will run one hour and introduce you to the fundamentals of breath control, vocal anatomy, tension placement, and the shifts in articulation needed to have you beginning to sound like a star-spangled savant.

reviews
Improv is one of the best ways I have found as an actor to learn how to really listen, trust your instincts, and be in the moment. You learn how to truly place your focus on the other people in your scene and work together to make something you couldn't have built on your own. The Improv class at ACS has been one of the highlights of my week. The technical instruction is solid and challenging while being executed in a safe and wonderfully fun environment. Nick is an incredible coach who creates a fantastic playground where you feel safe to try new things, explore new techniques, and express yourself in new and fun ways. I cherish both this class and my wonderful classmates.
